There is another court case surrounding NASCAR teams, this time involving AM Racing and Sigma Performance Services.
AM filed a suit against SPS on June 24 in Iredell County, North Carolina. AM seeks the return of several of its chassis and wants SPS to stop using AM’s intellectual property.
According to the document, Sigma agreed to acquire AM around October 6, 2025. The two organizations announced the deal on November 24, with Sigma set to field NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and ARCA Menards Series entries.
However, on January 30, AM announced that the sale had not been completed.
AM subsequently announced that Nick Sanchez would compete full time for the team in the O’Reilly Series. Sanchez completed in the first seven races, highlighted with a third-place finish at EchoPark Speedway in Atlanta. Sanchez drove the No. 25 Ford and Daniel Dye also drove part time in the No. 52 Ford. Dye made three starts.
The team then withdrew its entry at Rockingham Speedway. It never returned to competition, later confirming its closure.
Sanchez then joined Peterson Racing Group to pilot its No. 87 in a few races. He has made one start for the team, finishing 23rd at Pocono Raceway.
Sigma, meanwhile, has competed in select ARCA and ARCA Menards Series East races. The team’s entry is 20th in the national division owners’ point standings with three top fives and five top 10s. Dye gave the organization its best run at Kansas Speedway with a runner-up result. In the East series, Connor Hall has started two races for the team and Caden Kvapil debuted with a fifth-place finish at Toledo Speedway. SPS’ No. 24 is 16th in the East owner standings.
Neither AM nor Sigma have commented publicly on the lawsuit.
Mark Kristl joined Frontstretch at the beginning of the 2019 NASCAR season. He is the site's ARCA Menards Series editor. Kristl is also an Eagle Scout and a proud University of Dayton alum.
