Josh Williams Out at Watkins Glen, Alex Guenette Driving No. 92

Josh Williams, who was initially scheduled to run the full 2026 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series schedule for DGM Racing, will not run the No. 92 at Watkins Glen International, the team announced May 5.

Williams is sitting out this weekend due to, according to DGM, a sponsor failing to meet contractual obligations.

“This is an unfortunate circumstance for everyone involved,” Williams said in a team release. “No team works harder than the men and women at DGM, and this is just another setback for a dedicated team that consistently shows up doing so much with so little. We were very excited to bring a new partner into the sport, but they weren’t able to fulfill the terms and commitments they agreed to. As a team owner myself, I completely understand the decision that had to be made as a result. Looking forward to the day when we’ll be back.”

The release noted that Williams remains under contract with the team through 2027 and will still compete in multiple races this season.

Alex Guenette will instead drive the No. 92 at Watkins Glen with sponsorship from DLGL HRIS Software.

“While this is an incredible opportunity for Alex, this is a terribly difficult situation for our team,” DGM owner Mario Gosselin added. “Business aside, Josh is like a son to me, and I hate that we cannot keep him in the seat this weekend. We came into the season with strong commitments that we believed were going to elevate our program and position our team for success, but when those don’t come to fruition, tough decisions have to be made to protect the future of our program and ensure long-term stability.”

Guenette last raced in the series in 2023, scoring a best finish of 15th at the Chicago street course for DGM.

Through 12 races in 2026, Williams has a top result of 16th at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and enters Watkins Glen 28th in points.

  1. Interesting. Can’t find anything on who the sponsor was, or any details at all, really. Shame for Josh Williams…this has a DC Solar, or for those of us long in the tooth, J.D. Stacy feel to it.

I knew next to nothing about Guenette, but it appears he’s been a decent road course driver in Canadian stock cars, so him stepping in at the Glen makes sense. Glad he brought some last minute sponsorship, as I can’t imagine DGM is in a position to run long without sponsor funding. Good luck to them.
