Shane van Gisbergen didn’t put together a lap he wanted, but it was still good enough to claim his sixth career Cup Series pole.
Van Gisbergen will lead the field to green on Sunday (June 21) for the inaugural Cup race on the Naval Base Coronado street course in San Diego, turning in a lap time of 2:14.788 (90.809 mph).
Carson Hocevar will start alongside the No. 97 on the front row in his No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet, followed by Ryan Blaney in third, and the Front Row Motorsports duo of Zane Smith and Todd Gilliland in fourth and fifth.
Daniel Suarez, Ryan Preece, Connor Zilisch, Michael McDowell, and Austin Hill will start in the sixth to 10th positions, respectively.
Ty Gibbs was the highest qualifying Toyota, starting in 11th.
San Diego Cup Starting Lineup
The Anduril 250 at the Naval Base Coronado street course, the 17th race of the NASCARÂ Cup Series season, will take place on Sunday, June 21 at 4 p.m. ET, with broadcast coverage provided by Amazon Prime Video.
