CORONADO, Calif. — AJ Allmendinger confirmed with media on Saturday, June 20, that he will return to NASCAR Cup Series competition with Kaulig Racing for the 2027 season.
“I’m not going anywhere,” Allmendinger said to media. “I laugh when I see [people saying he may leave Kaulig]. It’s always whether I’m doing a good enough job.
“I’m 100% confident. Unless it’s on a beach with a pina colada. It sounds great. Doesn’t pay very well though.”
Allmendinger, whose contract is supposed to end at the end of the 2026 season, said Kaulig president Chris Rice has told him he has a contract that will last for a long time. Rice said in 2024 that Allmendinger’s contract was to last until the 2027 – 2028 season.
However, according to the Californian racer, Rice stated his contract is much longer.
“According to Chris, I’ve got a contract until 2032,” Allmendinger said. “So, I’m not going anywhere.”
Allmendinger is currently in the middle of his 11th year of full-time Cup Series racing and his seventh with the Kaulig organization.
In 2026 so far, he’s garnered two top 10s – both at road courses – and is 21st in the series standings and is approaching his 500th Cup Series start coming at Chiacgoland Speedway.
