Kyle Larson scored his eighth NASCAR Cup Series win of 2021 at Texas Motor Speedway Sunday (Oct. 17) amid a mayhem-filled event. What led to all the chaos that plagued the final stage of the Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 500?
Frontstretch’s post-race podcast, Stock Car Scoop, tackles this question with host Adam Cheek (subbing for Bryan Nolen this week) and content director Michael Massie. Also on the docket is Larson’s Texas triumph, a dominant performance that included 218 consecutive laps led to end the race. Is the Hendrick Motorsports driver officially the 2021 title favorite?
The duo also discusses who’s in the most desperate playoff situation with two races remaining in the Round of 8. Several title contenders, from Denny Hamlin to Martin Truex Jr., plummeted out of the top 10 after running into trouble during the final laps.

It was going to be a 30 lap race to the finish, but wound up being several 2 lap crippled surges to the GWC. Dramatic Anti-climatic finish.
NASCAR is doing all it can to help Elliott while disgusting more and more long time fans.
Why are they still setting the field by the ‘qualifying metrics’. I would beat that there are at least 3 guys that are not even close to be up to speed when the green flag flies.
I timed it pretty well. I turned it on with 40 to go and watched to the end as Larson pulled away each and every time. They showed the highlights for what I missed and it was just the Bowman/Bubba accident. Big deal…
