Jeffrey Earnhardt Joins BK Racing at Talladega and Homestead

Jeffrey Earnhardt will be sporting a different number this coming weekend at Talladega Superspeedway.

The grandson of NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt will pilot the No. 83 car for BK Racing with backing from Starter. With the change, the team’s usual driver, Matt DiBenedetto, is set to drive the No. 93 car at the 2.66-mile superspeedway. He will need to qualify into the race since the No. 93 team does not have a charter.

“I’m really excited to drive the No. 83 Starter Toyota Camry for the Fall race at Talladega,”  Earnhardt said . “It’s my first Cup Series race at Talladega, my first race with BK Racing, the first time anyone from our family competes in a Toyota and it’s the 25th anniversary of my grandfather’s victory at Talladega. Having this opportunity with an iconic partner like Starter is an incredible honor.

“Doug Richert crew chiefed for my grandpa when he won his championship and now he’s with me at Talladega so this race is pretty special. I can’t remember being so pumped up for a race and sincerely appreciate our friends at Starter for their support.”

In addition to competing for BK Racing at Talladega, Earnhardt returns to the team for the season-finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

This will mark the first time in Earnhardt’s brief Sprint Cup career that he will drive for a team other than Go Fas Racing. In 17 starts this year for the Ford-backed team, he has a best finish of 26th at Charlotte Motor Speedway in early October.
