Connor Mosack Cruises to Victory in ARCA’s Return to Chicagoland

Once the rain moved out and the track was ready for racing, the ARCA Menards Series returned to Chicagoland Speedway for the first time since 2019 Friday (July 3). Connor Mosack took the lead from Lanie Buice on lap 30 and held on to win the Ashley Furniture 150. It is Mosack’s third career ARCA victory and his first since Kansas in 2024.

“It always means a lot to win with these guys,” Mosack spoke with confidence in victory lane. “We finally got one where we didn’t have any late cautions, which was nice. Kept waiting on one there at the end.”

Prior to the first scheduled caution, the usual contenders were at the front. Mosack and Buice ran first and second, with Thomas Annunziata close behind in third. An exciting restart put the trio in a battle for the lead, and it proved to be the race’s defining moment. Mosack went three wide, took the lead and never looked back.

One notable name, however, was missing from the front of the pack. The No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota of William Sawalich was in the garage after making contact with Andy Jankowiak following the race’s first caution, which came out for a Bobby Dale Earnhardt spin on lap 20. With the No. 18 out of contention, Joe Gibbs Racing’s streak of four consecutive ARCA Menards Series victories, won by Max Reaves and Gio Ruggiero, had come to an end.

With Sawalich out of the race, Mosack seized on the opportunity and cruised to his third career win in the ARCA Menards Series.

Buice had a career night. She earned a second-place finish, the best of her ARCA career and the highest finish by a woman in an ARCA Menards Series race at Chicagoland Speedway.

Landon S. Huffman fought a loose racecar late to an impressive third-place finish. Daniel Dye and pole winner Thomas Annunziata rounded out the top-five.

Jade Avedisian matched her career-best finish with a sixth-place result. Points leader Jake Bollman lost ground to Annunziata in the championship standings and came home seventh. Jason Kitzmiller and Kyle Steckly completed the top 10.

  1. Good to see such a great race for P2 in the championship. BTW, how far out front is Isabella? 300, 400 points? More?
