Entry List: 2015 Kroger 250 at Martinsville

After nearly a month off, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will return to action this Saturday at Martinsville Speedway.

NASCAR released the entry list for the March 28 17th Annual Kroger 250 on Monday (March 23). There are 36 entrants, including a few surprises. Four teams will fail to make Saturday’s feature.

Daytona 500 winner Joey Logano is the only Sprint Cup Series winner set to enter Saturday’s race. He will drive the No. 29 Ford for his Penske teammate’s Brad Keselowski Racing team. Cup Series regular David Gilliland will also compete, driving the No. 92 Ford for owner Ricky Benton.

JR Motorsports driver Cole Custer will attempt to make his first start of 2015. Custer, 17, scored six top 10s in nine starts in 2014, including a win at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Custer will pilot the No. 00 Haas Automation Chevrolet.

Also attempting his first start of 2015 will be Gray Gaulding. Gaulding, 17, will attempt to make his first start for Red Horse Racing, after running for NTS Motorsports in. Gaulding scored a career-best fourth-place finish at Canadian Tire Motorsports park in 2014.

A few other developing drivers will return to action at Martinsville. K&N Pro Series East winner Brandon Jones will his first race in the No. 33 Chevrolet for GMS Racing. Matt Tifft will return to the No. 51 Toyota for Kyle Busch Motorsports after running in the season-opening race at Daytona.

The Camping World Truck Series will be the first to take to Martinsville this weekend, as they run the first of three Friday practice sessions at 10 a.m. ET. The teams will return for Keystone Light Pole Qualifying on Saturday at 11:15 a.m. ET, before returning at 2:30 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1 for the Kroger 250.

There is a reason that with the exception of NASCAR every competitive endeavor known to man has classes based on skill level. If you ever wondered why all you need do is look at the lack of interest in the truck series and you have your answer. Someone needs to tell Joey Logano that NOBODY cares how many home runs Hank Aaron hit in the minors.
