“I think I might move out to Las Vegas” – Nicolas Cage, Leaving Las Vegas
I can’t say that the writing isn’t on the wall after last week’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway. But what I can say, is that Kyle Larson is and should 100% be the favorite this week.
However, I feel like until somebody can outrun them all on a consistent basis, you have to take the boys in the Joe Gibbs Racing Toyotas.
All four of those drivers and teams are dangerous and have run well on intermediate tracks this season. I also think you can’t really go wrong with any of the Team Penske drivers this weekend.
I would be cautious about Joey Logano though. Just because he’s had so much success here does not mean he will help you here on this particular Sunday. Crew chief Paul Wolfe and his driver haven’t been able to find a whole lot of speed on intermediate tracks at all.
Fantasy Forecast
Denny Hamlin $11,000
Hamlin, nor anyone else for that matter, had anything close to what Larson had last week. I do believe that changes this week though.
I’ve been waiting for Hamlin and company to wake up for five weeks now, and they really need to keep momentum away from the No. 5. He’s on the pole, though that’s not a huge advantage here like it is other places.
Clean air does provide opportunity for a stage win and most laps led though, and that’s why he brings the most value this time out.
Ty Gibbs $8,900
Is it cheating to pick the first and second-place starters for these first two fantasy slots?
Eh, I don’t know the answer to that, but what I do know is that it’s about time we see Gibbs get back to making some noise this week. He’s had a pretty decent Chase thus far. But I think you need to win now at this stage to keep yourself in it.
I don’t think Gibbs is a winner tomorrow though.
However, he should capitalize on his starting position and pick some much needed stage points at all every opportunity tomorrow.
Austin Cindric $7,900
It isn’t crazy to me that Cindric darn near won Kansas last week. What does surprise me is just how much better he looked than any of his teammates most of the day.
He looked good in qualifying too, and he’s gonna likely grab you points for stages as well with his starting position.
The things that worry me are pretty significant though. Cindric has an average finish of 19.6 at Las Vegas and only two top 10s.
Brad Keselowski $7,000
It’s been a big news week for the 2012 Cup Series champion as he announced he is leaving his own race team, RFK Racing, at the end of the season.
Wouldn’t it be ironic if he somehow won a race on his way out?
We likely don’t need to worry about that this week. However, if Keselowski’s around at the finish he knows how to win here.
After all, he’s done it three times.
Chase Elliott $8,500
Alright Elliott fans you can finally get back up and get excited.
Your driver was able to put a full race together at Kansas, and it turned into his first top 10 in weeks. It went so well, I’m going to put him in the lineup again.
Don’t get me wrong, I think his postseason is over. But I really expect this group to put together solid runs to end the year.
Ryan Preece $6,700
With the sudden change in the front office of RFK Racing at the end of the season, it puts forward the question of who is poised to be the lead dog there in 2027.
With the way Chris Buescher has been running this year, I definitely think it’s Preece. He’s had some really good successes as of late and I don’t think that stops in the desert.
I expect a solid top 15 from him.
Top Bets of the Week
Denny Hamlin +400: It’s got to be this one right? I mean he was in the mix last week. He’s been really great on intermediate tracks all year. I just feel like it’s got to happen, and it needs to this weekend.
Dark Horse of the week, Tyler Reddick +900: Reddick’s downfall this season needs to be studied. But I do feel like he has the potential to turn this season around. This team has always been good at doing just that. I think he’s a solid dark horse bet to be sure.
