After waiting out a near five-hour rain delay, Kaden Honeycutt won the Race to Stop Suicide 200 at Kansas Speedway on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 26) to take the Trucks Series points lead away from Layne Riggs.
“My pit crew, they are just the best and there’s nothing else I can say about that,” Honeycutt told the FOX broadcast after getting his third win of the year. “Just executed, executed all night… sorry I didn’t do any burnouts, we got to save this thing for Homestead.”
Christian Eckes finished runner-up, Brent Crews finished third, Daniel Hemric finished fourth and Ben Rhodes rounded out the top five.
Chandler Smith, Nick Leitz, Tanner Gray, Jake Garcia and Corey LaJoie finished in the sixth to 10th positions.
Honeycutt swept the stages and earned 75 points on the day while Riggs had an up and down race all the way until the checkered flag waved.
In the first stage, Riggs rocketed from his 22nd starting spot all the way up to third and in the second stage, he finished second which gave him 17 stage points in total.
Then in the final laps while running second behind Honeycutt, Riggs got up into the outside wall and had to limp his Front Row Motorsports Ford to a 19th place result, losing valuable points to the No. 11 team.
“Just went for it, went for it way too hard, went for it when I shouldn’t have gone for it, I should’ve just been content with finishing second right there,” Riggs told the FOX broadcast on pit road postrace. “I’m definitely going to be beating myself up the next few days, feel like I let my team down.”
Grant Enfinger was another Chase driver who had a rough ending to his race as he led during the red flag, hoping that NASCAR would call it but after the race resumed his night went poorly.
Enfinger was running in the top 10 when he had a tire get cut down after contact during a restart and he slowed his truck at the top of the track.
Race control deemed that Enfinger brought the caution on purpose so he was penalized two laps and ultimately finished in 31st, five laps down.
Two other Chase drivers that had issues at Kansas were Tyler Ankrum and Ty Majeski as they also encountered tire issues and they finished 25th and 29th respectively.
Honeycutt holds a 37 point advantage over Riggs after two Chase races while Smith sits in third, 71 points behind.
Gio Ruggiero is 72 points back in fourth and then it’s Eckes 82 points behind Honeycutt in fifth.

The Truck Series will return to action on Friday, October 9 at 5 p.m. ET from Charlotte Motor Speedway for the 21st race of the season and the third race of The Chase. The race will be broadcast on FOX.
