Jimmie Johnson, Marty Smith Join NASCAR TNT Broadcast

Jimmie Johnson will join TNT’s NASCAR Cup Series broadcast team as a special guest during its run this season, the network announced June 17.

He joins the team alongside Marty Smith, who will the host of TNT’s pre- and post-race coverage.

Johnson will be a part of three of the five races that TNT will be broadcasting, as he will be on the coverage for Sonoma Raceway, North Wilkesboro Speedway and Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He’ll work as a studio analyst.

Johnson and Smith are now part of a team that includes returning broadcast booth Steve Letarte, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Adam Alexander.

“Joining TNT Sports is an opportunity that truly energizes me,” Johnson said in a release. “NASCAR has given me so much throughout my career, and getting the chance to share that passion from a new perspective alongside a fantastic team of NASCAR legends is something I’m really looking forward to.

“TNT Sports has such a long history of bringing fans closer to the action, and I’m excited to help deliver that same level of insight, intensity and fun as a part of their NASCAR coverage.

The seven-time Cup champion is running his second race of the season this weekend at Naval Base Coronado. He is also owner of the series’ Legacy Motor Club.
