Bringing the Heat: Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Talks Kyle Busch Tribute, Hyak Extension

This week on Bringing the Heat with Trey Lyle, Danny Peters caught up with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. ahead of the Cracker Barrel 400 at Nashville Superspeedway on May 31. Driving for NOS Energy, Stenhouse and his team wrapped the car with a Kyle Busch tribute scheme that Rowdy drove in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series from 2016 to 2018.

Stenhouse shared some moments he’s had with Busch, including a conversation after the Dover All-Star Race. Stenhouse also discussed a contract extension he signed with Hyak Motorsports earlier this year.

Stenhouse loves the “family atmosphere of [Hyak],” and he gives some insight into their mindset when they show up to the track each week.

After the interview, Caleb Barnes joins to go over this week’s hottest topics. That includes the announcement of the return of Trackhouse Racing’s Project 91 with Kevin Magnussen. Barnes and Lyle share their excitement and expectations for Magnussen, who will join the field around the San Diego Naval Base.

Also, Jimmie Johnson hinted that Legacy Motor Club is nearing the announcement of more investors into the team. As that program continues to grow and find partners, Barnes compares it to the trajectory of other new teams like Spire Motorsports and 23XI Racing.

In this week’s soundbite, Christopher Bell dishes on the teammate battle between himself, Denny Hamlin, and Chase Briscoe for the win in Nashville. Bell placed the blame on himself for not beating Hamlin in the late-race showdown. Barnes and Lyle also decide whether or not Bell’s inability to take advantage in recent races will cost him in the race for the championship.
