Alex Bowman Out Next 3 Races, Justin Allgaier Remains Fill-In

Hendrick Motorsports announced Tuesday that Alex Bowman, who’s already missed the last two NASCAR Cup Series races due while suffering from vertigo, will miss the next three at least.

Justin Allgaier, who filled in for Bowman in the No. 48 Chevy this past weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, will remain in the car for upcoming races at Darlington Raceway, Martinsville Speedway and Bristol Motor Speedway.

“Alex continues to experience symptoms, so we are following the guidance of the medical team and giving him the time he needs to recover,” Hendrick Motorsports president and GM Jeff Andrews said in a press release Tuesday. “We see how hard he’s working to get back behind the wheel, and we’re looking forward to his return when he’s medically cleared. Everyone at Hendrick Motorsports is 100% behind Alex.”

Bowman had to step out of the No. 48 Chevy during a race at Circuit of the Americas on March 1. Myatt Snider completed the race in his place. Anthony Alfredo filled in for Bowman at Phoenix and Allgaier replaced him last week en route to a 25th-place finish.
