JGR Adds Spire as Defendant in Lawsuit; Seeks Temporary Restraining Order Against Chris Gabehart

Joe Gibbs Racing has amended its lawsuit filing and is now suing Spire Motorsports as well as Chris Gabehart, per FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass.

Additionally, it filed a motion for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction against Gabehart, purposing to prevent Gabehart to work for Spire for 18 months.

Last week, JGR filed the lawsuit against its former competition director, alleging that he “embarked on a brazen scheme to steal JGR’s most sensitive information.”

Gabehart later responded to the allegations on X, denying “those frivolous and retaliatory claims.”

Included in the latest filing is Gabehart’s termination letter.

Gabehart was Denny Hamlin‘s crew chief from 2019-2024 before moving up to Competition Director within JGR.

  1. Hrmmm…. Gabehart says a review of his data found no evidence, but JGR’s termination letter says he was fired for having JGR’s data on his personal devices. That seems contradictory.
