Ryan Truex will pilot the No. 40 Niece Motorsports machine in six NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series events in 2020, according to a tweet from the driver’s account on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
Truex returns to the division for the first time since 2017, having previously competed then for Hattori Racing. He recorded 13 top-10 efforts, eight of those in the top five.
The younger brother of NASCAR Cup Series driver Martin Truex Jr. followed that year up with a full season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with Kaulig Racing in 2018 and six races with JR Motorsports in 2019. Truex scored four top-10 finishes last year, including a second-place effort at Phoenix Raceway.
Marquis Spas, which backed Truex in two Xfinity Series starts in 2019, will be on the truck for all six events. The specific races have not yet been announced.
Truex also splits the truck with Carson Hocevar, who is scheduled to run nine races, and Ross Chastain, who’s driving it at Daytona International Speedway.
The veteran’s other teammates include Ty Majeski, who will run the full season in the team’s No. 45, as well as Chastain and Natalie Decker, who are tabbed for six and eight races, respectively, in Niece’s No. 44.
