Noah Gragson Earns Third Pole of 2018 at Chicagoland

Noah Gragson will lead the field to green for the sixth time of his career in Friday’s Overton’s 225 at Chicagoland Speedway. Gragson locked up his third pole of 2018 by edging Dalton Sargeant during qualifying. Sargeant earned his career-best qualifying effort of second.

2015 Overton’s 225 winner John Hunter Nemechek qualified in third while Todd Gilliland and Stewart Friesen rounded out the top five speeds.

Brett Moffitt, who wasn’t even sure if he’d be able to make this weekends race due to lack of funding, qualified the race in sixth. Johnny Sauter qualified seventh followed by Matt Crafton, Ben Rhodes, Justin Haley, Myatt Snider, and Cody Coughlin.

Gragson swept both rounds of single-truck rapid fire qualifying.

Only one incident highlighted the session. Wendell Chavous spun coming out of turn four and slid his truck through the grass. His car sustained what looked to be minimal damage, he failed to turn a lap in the session and will start the race in 32nd.
