A few more of the races Matt Kenseth will run in his return to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series have been unveiled.
Kenseth returns to the organization for whom he won the 2003 Cup championship when he climbs into the Roush Fenway Racing No. 6 Ford Fusion at this weekend’s KC Masterpiece 400 Saturday night at Kansas Speedway, and Thursday (May 10), the team released further details of his 2018 plans.
Besides Kansas, Kenseth will drive the No. 6 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the Coca-Cola 600 on May 27, the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway on June 10, the Big Machine Vodka Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sept. 9, the fall race at Dover International Speedway on Oct. 7, the Can-Am 500 at ISM Raceway on Nov. 11 and the season-ending Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 18.
All of these races will have sponsorship from Wyndham Rewards, the rewards program of the Wyndham Hotel Group’s chains, which include Baymont Inn & Suites, Days Inn and Super 8.
Further races have not been announced, though it’s been inferred that Kenseth will fill out the balance of the races in the No. 6 that former full-time driver Trevor Bayne is not driving.
The No. 6 is currently in 29th place in the owner standings with a season-best finish of 12th in the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on April 8.
