The NASCAR XFINITY Series closes out the “West Coast Swing” this weekend at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. 40 entries make up this week’s entry list, meaning everyone will qualify for the race.
Austin Dillon will return to the No. 3 car for Richard Childress Racing after his brother Ty Dillon was behind the wheel this past weekend at the ISM Raceway. This will be Dillon’s 3rd start this season for the team after scoring a 32nd pace finish at the Daytona International Speedway and a 12th-place finish at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Ryan Preece will make his season debut in the No. 18 for Joe Gibbs Racing after an impressive stint for the team last year. In only four starts, Preece scored one win at Iowa Speedway and finished top five in each start as well. That performance earned him a part time deal with JGR this year. Preece will look to continue his string of top-five runs this weekend.
Joey Logano will be behind the wheel of the No. 22 for Team Penske this weekend after Brad Keselowski took the car to Victory Lane at ISM Raceway. Logano will be making his third start this year, with his most recent race coming at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, where he finished 2nd. He will be looking for his 29th career win this weekend.
After a finishing fourth in his series debut at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, John Hunter Nemechek will once again be in the No. 42 entry for Chip Ganassi Racing this weekend. This will only be his second start this year as he will be sharing the ride throughout the season with Kyle Larson and Jamie McMurray, who drove the car to a fifth-place finish at ISM Raceway.
RSS Racing will have a driver swap this weekend with Jeff Green and JJ Yeley. Yeley will drive the No. 93 car, while Green will drive the No. 38. Yeley drove the No. 38 car to a solid 21st-place finish at ISM raceway, while Green had mechanical issues and finished 40th in the No. 93.
Opening practice takes place on Friday March 16 at 3:35 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1. The green flag waves on Saturday March 17 at 5:18 p.m. ET, with coverage on Fox Sports 1.
