Jimmie Johnson Wins Happy Hour in Richmond

Jimmie Johnson led the way in final practice for Sunday’s Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway. In a session that saw all 40 cars take times on the 0.75-mile track, Johnson trumped them all with a lap time of 22.342 seconds [120.849 mph].

A mere 0.042 behind the six-time champion was Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kasey Kahne. Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick and Carl Edwards – who combine for eight Richmond wins – rounded out the top 5.

Tony Stewart, in his return to Sprint Cup racing after an eight-race absence, finished the session 23rd, one spot behind his Stewart-Haas Racing teammate Danica Patrick.

Completing the top-10 spots is Matt Kenseth, Martin Truex, Jr., AJ Allmendinger, Paul Menard and Joey Logano.

Congrats to the 48 team for making the Happy Hour Chase.

Tim S.

How many Happy Hour bonus points do they have?

Chris

Zach, many commentators (including myself) have pointed out in past articles related to practice that no one actually “wins” practice.
