Three-time Kansas Speedway winner Jimmie Johnson paced the final NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice session before tomorrow’s race at Kansas Speedway. Johnson’s fastest lap was 28.574 sec at 188.983 mph, beating out polesitter Brad Keselowski’s lap of 188.930 mph. Keselowski was second fastest.
Denny Hamlin was the fastest Toyota in third. His teammate Matt Kenseth was fourth followed by last week’s winner Joey Logano to round out the top five.
Carl Edwards and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. were sixth and seventh, respectively. Paul Menard — who brought out the only caution during the practice session — was eighth quickest. Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Martin Truex Jr. rounded out the top 10. Johnson, Stenhouse and Menard were the only non-Chasers inside the top 10.
Chase drivers outside the top 10 include Ryan Newman (11th), Kurt Busch (16th), Kevin Harvick (18th), Kyle Busch (24th) and Jeff Gordon (29th).
The next time the Sprint Cup Series is on the track will be Sunday, October 17th at 2:15 p.m. ET.
