Goodyear and NASCAR continue testing at Indianapolis Motor Speedway today for the upcoming Brickyard 400 on July 27th. Tire testing began on Monday and several veteran Sprint Cup Series drivers and teams were a part of it. Participating in the testing sessions are the No. 14 of Tony Stewart of Stewart Haas Racing; Ryan Newman and the No. 31 team for Richard Childress Racing; Joey Logano and the No. 22 team for Penske Racing; the No. 16 Ford run by Greg Biffle for Roush Fenway Racing; the No. 15 team tested by Clint Bowyer for Michael Waltrip Racing; and the No. 18 team prepped for Kyle Busch for Joe Gibbs Racing.
Stock car racing at the flat-banked, 2.5-mile IMS has been historically marred with tire issues, so these sessions are critically important to Goodyear and NASCAR to make sure tire selection is accurate. Testing is set to conclude this evening as the teams head to Sonoma Raceway this weekend.
Newman is the defending race winner of the Brickyard 400.
