Chase Briscoe snagged the victory in the NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Oct. 4, holding off the hard-charging Kyle Larson and Tyler Reddick to score his second win of 2026 and the seventh of his Cup career.
After Bubba Wallace faded from second, Larson made a run at Briscoe, just as he did last week at Kansas Speedway. However, Briscoe blocked Larson enough and kept him just far enough back to stave off a last-second move.
Larson hit the wall on the exit of the final corner but still finished second, while Reddick spun through the infield grass after hitting Larson and still finished third.
Larson came back to finish second after an intentionally slow pit stop for an adjustment early in the race.
“What an amazing day,” Briscoe said on the USA Network telecast. “I hope that was a good race. From my seat there at the end, I don’t know what more you could want from a cat-and-mouse standpoint. So thankful to get to victory lane.”
Austin Cindric, Ryan Blaney, William Byron, Chase Elliott, Wallace, Shane van Gisbergen and Joey Logano rounded out the top 10.
Aside from Briscoe’s win, the biggest story of the race was the struggles of Denny Hamlin. Hamlin started on pole and was in line to earn stage points in stage one before disaster struck.
Hamlin spun on lap 88, though NASCAR didn’t throw the caution. Both he and Larson were shut out from earning stage points in the first stage, while Larson nabbed one in stage two.
That wasn’t the only issue Hamlin had, however. His car didn’t drive well in dirty air, and he was forced to restart 23rd at the start of the final stage after his car stalled on track.
Hamlin clawed his way to 16th but now trails Larson by 40 points with five races to go.
