This week on Bringing the Heat With Trey Lyle, ARCA Menards East Series driver Craig Pellegrini Jr. shares his journey to racing full time in 2026. Pellegrini Jr. believes his team has found consistency and can compete with the best in the ARCA garage from time to time.
It’s long been a dream for Pellegrini to race at Bristol Motor Speedway, and this season, he’s accomplishing that feat the same week he celebrates his 25th birthday. The Bristol goal is to put together a solid race by finishing with the car all in one piece and celebrate an entire season where he’s recorded no DNFs.
After the interview, Caleb Barnes joins Lyle to react to this week’s hottest topics. This week, NASCAR made a change to its wet weather policy. NASCAR is allowing the teams to decide when they want to make the change from wet weather tires back to slicks on a drying race track. Lyle appreciates teams having “more tools in the toolbox” when wet conditions are present.
In 2027, Hendrick Motorsports will be bringing back neon numbers for each of its cars. Barnes and Lyle share possibilities and examples what that could look like, and whether or not it’s a good decision.
Truck Series championship contender Layne Riggs announced he will return with Front Row Motorsports in the series in 2027. Barnes believes it’s due to a lack of open rides in the Cup Series, and Riggs has an opportunity to have a season similar to what Corey Heim did in 2025.
This week’s soundbite is from William Byron, who talks caution chaos at Worldwide Technology Raceway. Barnes and Lyle speculate on what caused the number of crashes, and if the field will settle down for the remainder of the season.
