Ty Gibbs was able to beat the buzzer in NASCAR Cup Series qualifying on Saturday afternoon (June 27) at Sonoma Raceway to steal the pole position away from Carson Hocevar.
It’s Gibbs’ first pole of the season and the third of his Cup career. His last pole came nearly two full years ago in July of 2024 at Pocono Raceway.
Hocevar will start alongside Gibbs while Kyle Larson, Michael McDowell and Ross Chastain will start in third, fourth, and fifth respectively.
Shane van Gisbergen, Chase Briscoe, AJ Allmendinger, Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano will start in the sixth to 10th positions.
Bubba Wallace brought out a stoppage in the session in the second group after he crashed coming out of turn 10.
Sonoma Cup Starting Lineup
The Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway, the 18th race of the NASCAR Cup Series season, will take place on Sunday, June 28 at 3:30 p.m. ET, with TV coverage provided by TNT.
