Bringing the Heat: Author Andrew Clarke Talks NASCAR’s Immortals

This week on Bringing the Heat with Trey Lyle, author Andrew Clarke joins to discuss his book “The Immortals of NASCAR.” Clarke is from Australia, and the racing talk includes describing similarities and differences between NASCAR and Supercars and driver crossovers between the series.

In the book writing process, Clarke shares who he feels is the greatest NASCAR driver to ever wheel a stock car. Clarke also details what it meant to have Richard Petty write the foreword for his book.

After the interview, Caleb Barnes joins Lyle to review the hottest topics of the week. That includes talking about the hottest driver of the week, and of the season. The two set the ceiling for Tyler Reddick’s win total after his impressive performance at Circuit of the Americas.

On Wednesday (March 4), Richard Childress Racing and Cleetus McFarland’s upcoming plans were announced. Barnes and Lyle lay out what they would like to see when it comes to the approval process and NASCAR making sure drivers like McFarland are actually up to the task when they run NASCAR events.

This week’s soundbite of the week comes from Shane van Gisbergen, recapping his Cup race at Circuit of the Americas where he was dethroned of his road course kingship for the time being. Barnes and Lyle debate whether or not van Gisbergen has already missed his opportunity to make the postseason after he failed to win the first road course race.
