Happy Hour: Did Denny Hamlin Blow the Championship? Is Kasey Kahne Back?

On this week’s episode of Frontstretch Happy Hour, hosts Bryan Nolen, Michael Massie, Dalton Hopkins and Chris Graham take a look at how the NASCAR Cup Series points and who still has a chance at the title in The Chase.

Denny Hamlin was in position to score a lot points at Las Vegas Motor Speedway before he spun out by himself. The four guys debate whether or not this was the moment where Hamlin choked away the championship this time.

Kyle Larson finished second at Vegas and has been averaging second place through the first half of The Chase. The quartet debate if Larson’s run is sustainable and who could catch up to him.

The crowds this past weekend at Vegas and the week before at Kansas Speedway weren’t great. The gang discusses if those two tracks should go down to one date like many other tracks have and what could happen to the schedule if that does occur.

The Athletic reported on Friday that Kasey Kahne is closing in on a deal to return to NASCAR by racing full time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series next year for Spire Motorsports. The hosts dive into what the impact of Kahne’s return will be, whether or not he will be competitive and if he is worthy of a spot in the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
