Treyten Lapcevich has joined Nitro Motorsports beginning with this weekend’s ARCA Menards Series race at Berlin Raceway, Nitro announced June 10.
Lapcevich will drive the team’s car at Berlin in place of Thad Moffitt, the team’s now-formerly full-time driver who is moving to a part-time schedule for the remainder of the season due to, according to the release, a “partner withdrawal.”
Lapcevich is entered in the No. 70.
“I’m really excited to join Nitro Motorsports and compete in the ARCA Menards Series,” Lapcevich said in a team release. “It’s a great chance to showcase what I can do with a strong team behind me. Their results as a rookie team this season have been impressive, and I am grateful for the trust they’ve put in me. I’m ready to get to work at Berlin.”
“Treyten is a talented driver with a ton of potential, and we’re thrilled to have him join Nitro Motorsports,” Nitro owner Nick Tucker added “At the same time, Thad has been a great asset to our team, and we fully support his continued involvement in a part-time role. We’re looking forward to building on the success we’ve already had this season.”
Moffitt’s return to the seat was not announced. The team has fielded the No. 46 full time this year plus the No. 70 part time for Amber Balcaen.
“I can’t thank Nitro Motorsports enough for everything we’ve accomplished so far this season,” Moffitt said. “While I’m disappointed we couldn’t continue full-time, I’m proud of what we’ve built and look forward to more opportunities together later this year. While not behind the wheel, I will be one of the biggest fans of this young, but incredible program.”
Lapcevich made his ARCA debut at Phoenix Raceway this year with Venturini Motorsports, finishing third.
Moffitt has one top five and four top 10s in six starts so far this season. He entered Berlin sixth in points.
