Austin Hill‘s quest for back-to-back wins in the NASCAR Xfinity Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway has started strong.
The Richard Childress Racing driver scored his second career Xfinity pole at Daytona Saturday afternoon, Feb. 18.
Hill’s lap of 182.563 mph kept Parker Kligerman and Big Machine Racing Team from the top spot, as the No. 48 Chevrolet will start on the outside of the front row.
Cole Custer, in his return to the Xfinity Series full-time, qualified third, Sheldon Creed fourth and Justin Allgaier completed the top five.
Daniel Hemric, John Hunter Nemechek, Chandler Smith, Riley Herbst and Anthony Alfredo rounded out the top 10.
Six out of the 44 entries failed to qualify for the race: Ryan Vargas, Dexter Stacey, Alex Labbe, Timmy Hill, Garrett Smithley and Josh Bilicki. Of those, just Smithley is running full time.
