Josh Berry has been announced as the next driver of the NASCAR Cup Series No. 42 Toyota for Legacy Motor Club in 2027, the team revealed Sept. 8.
Berry will take over from John Hunter Nemechek, who departs LMC at the end of 2026.
Amid the announcement, Berry is currently riding the most productive stretch of his Cup career. The 35-year-old has scored six-consecutive top-10 finishes, a mark that hasn’t been seen at Wood Brothers Racing since 1976 with David Pearson.
WBR previously announced on June 17 that Berry will be replaced by defending NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series champion Jesse Love in 2027.
In all, Berry has two top fives and eight top 10s this season, entering World Wide Technology at Gateway 25th in points.
Berry’s switch to Legacy marks his third Cup team in four years driving full time in the series; in addition to his WBR stint, he competed for Stewart-Haas Racing in 2024.
