Red Bull, Aston Martin Sanctioned for Breaching 2021 Financial Cap

Red Bull Racing has been hit with sanctions for reportedly breaching its 2021 financial cap, as was Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant F1 Team, Formula 1 announced Oct. 28.

According to theĀ Associated Press, Red Bull has been ordered to pay a $7 million fine.

The team will also forfeit a portion of its wind tunnel time for next year, per the AP.

Red Bull overspent its 2021 cap by $1.8 million.

The team recently achieved both the 2022 driver’s and constructor’s championships, the former with driver Max Verstappen.

Later on Oct. 28, F1 also announced that Aston Martin had been sanctioned for a procedural breach regarding its 2021 cap.

The team received a $450,000 penalty.

The 2022 season continues this weekend at the Mexico Grand Prix, with three races left.
