Carvana will be a primary sponsor for Jimmie Johnson’s No. 48 Honda in the 2021 NTT IndyCar Series season. Chip Ganassi Racing announced the new agreement on Saturday, Oct. 24.
The seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion will keep his familiar number that he has used since 2001 driving for Hendrick Motorsports.
Carvana, an online auto retailer, enters the sport for the first time and will ride with Johnson on the road and street courses.

“Carvana is a young, tech-forward, smart and aggressive company and is the perfect partner for this next challenge in my career,” Johnson said in a team release. “I’ve dreamed of racing in INDYCAR since I was a little kid. Going from one championship organization to another with CGR, you know the resources, including great people, are going to be there. To have friends like Scott (Dixon), Dario (Franchitti) and Doug (Duchardt) there to lean on and learn from just makes this transition so much better. 2021 is going to be a lot of fun!”
Johnson is set to test for CGR at Barber Motorsports Park and Laguna Seca in November. His paint scheme will be revealed at a later date.
