Toyota 500 Start Time Moved Forward Due to Weather

Wednesday night’s (May 20) NASCAR Cup Series race, the Toyota 500 at Darlington Raceway, has been moved up in the wake of weather off of Tropical Storm Arthur.

The start time has been changed from 7:30 p.m. ET, instead slated for 6 p.m.

Rain will hit the raceway both Tuesday and Wednesday, with Tuesday night’s Xfinity Series Toyota 200 being moved up as well.

The Toyota 500 is the last of a trio of events at Darlington, part of NASCAR’s return to on-track action amid the coronavirus pandemic. The season had been stopped for more than two months due to safety concerns.

Ryan Preece and Ty Dillon will start on the front row, inheriting the spots after the top-20 finishers from Sunday’s Real Heroes 500 were inverted for Wednesday.

Kevin Harvick will attempt to go back-to-back after winning Sunday’s return to racing.
