TJ Bell, CMI Teaming for Charlotte & Atlanta

TJ Bell will pilot the No. 49 truck for CMI Motorsports at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Atlanta Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series, the team announced today, May 18.

The No. 49 for CMI failed to qualify for the first two races with team owner Ray Ciccarelli and Bayley Currey in the No. 49.

“With all the changes going on, we wanted to have someone in our truck that has a ton of experience at both tracks,” team owner Ciccarelli said in a press statement. “Experience will be crucial with not having any practice or qualifying. TJ brings that experience, and the feedback from him will help us get better.”

Bell’s last start came in 2019, driving the No. 38 Niece Motorsports truck to a 29th-place finish at Michigan International Speedway. He was entered in Young’s Motorsports’ No. 12 truck at Atlanta earlier this year prior to the race’s postponement due to COVID-19.

CMI also fields the No. 83 in the series.

The Truck Series returns racing after its hiatus to Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 26, with TV coverage on Fox Sports 1.
