Saturday night’s Sprint All-Star Race on FOX Sports 1 scored an overnight Nielsen rating of 1.7. The race began later than scheduled as a result of rain that moved through the area that evening.
According to Sports Media Watch, the rating is down 19 percent from last year’s 2.1 rating and even with the 2014 rating.
Through 13 events in 2016, it scored the lowest overnight rating, trailing the Kansas Speedway race from earlier this month that came in at a 1.8 rating.
The race finished in a tie as the second most watched sporting event on Saturday night with the NHL playoff game on NBC, but trailed the NBA playoff game on ESPN.
This week’s Coca-Cola 600 is the final race on FOX this season. The remaining NASCAR on FOX events at Pocono, Michigan, and Sonoma will be broadcast on FS1.

lets see, only one race this year has had a ratings increase. Only one other race has matched last years ratings. So you surprised that ratings are down for the all star race and want to blame the weather. Really? Who would have thought.
Sure! Blame the rain!
