Following a steady downward trend in TV ratings to begin the 2016 season, the past two races have shown increases. Last week’s Talladega overnight rating pulled even with the 2015 race and the final rating showed a slight increase.
Saturday night’s Go Bowling 400 at Kansas Speedway saw an increase in overnight TV ratings during the second race broadcast on FS1 this season.
According to Sports Media Watch, the race posted a 1.8 overnight Nielsen rating, which is up 20 percent from last year’s event. However, the 2015 edition featured a rain delay and didn’t finish until early Sunday morning.
The race trailed both NHL and NBA playoff games on Saturday night, with the hockey game coming in at 2.7 and basketball game at 4.3.
For the second consecutive year, this Sunday’s race from Dover International Speedway will also be on FS1. After this weekend, the next regular season race at Charlotte Motor Speedway will be on FOX.

Gotta say, the Dega race was prolly the best plate race since they did away with tandems. I have curse every plate race since tandems were legislated out of existence, except this one. Not surprised by the “strong” rating, but still wish tandem drafting was occurring.
Nothing to brag about at KS, considering how the ’15 race is so skewed by weather. I wonder how the ’16 KS race stacks up to pervious years & or the other fall date?
