Tanner Berryhill Sidelined Due to Lack of Sponsorship

If you looked at the NASCAR XFINITY Series entry list for Saturday’s Hisense 250 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, you may have noticed one driver missing from the list of 40 entries.

That is because Tanner Berryhill, who pilots the No. 17 Toyota Camry for his family-owned racing team, has been sidelined due to lack of sponsorship.

Berryhill, who attempted to qualify for the Alert Today Florida 300 Saturday but failed to make the race, took to Twitter Monday, sharing the news among the number of race fans on social media.

“My team has been in such a financial crunch for so long and missing the race at Daytona sent us over board [sic],” Berryhill wrote. The new qualifying format killed any chance we had of racing this year.

“I plan to work hard to find sponsors, but until then I will not be racing unless an opportunity allows me to do so. Thanks for the support.”

Berryhill, an Oklahoma native, holds 40 career starts in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. He made his debut in 2012 at the Richmond International Raceway, finishing 29th. Berryhill earned his best finish last season at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, bringing home a 17th.
