After Victory for the No. 43, Richard Petty Motorsports to Remain with Ford

Aric Almirola’s historic victory at Daytona on a rain-shortened Sunday for the Coke Zero 400 was monumental for more reasons than securing the No. 43’s first Sprint Cup victory since 1999. The win also was the third in a row for Ford, a manufacturer that had its struggles with speed earlier this season.

Getting the No. 43 back to victory circle was huge, but so was getting Ford another victory this season, the first time they’ve had three in a row in Cup since 2005. Richard Petty Motorsports announced on Monday that the team will remain with the Blue Oval after this season after some had rumored that RPM may part ways with Ford.

With Carl Edward’s win at Sonoma, Brad Keselowski’s victory at Kentucky, and now Almirola’s win at Daytona this weekend, Ford is second in the manufacturer points standings with 786, just 20 behind the bow-tie of Chevrolet who has had dominate cars in 2014 with multi-race winners in Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Kevin Harvick, and Jimmie Johnson.
