For the second straight ARCA Menards Series East race, Carson Brown has won the pole. After scoring the pole for the East and ARCA Menards Series combination race at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, Brown won the pole for the race at Flat Rock Speedway on Saturday, Aug 1.
It is his second career East pole. Despite missing the season opener at Hickory Motor Speedway, Brown enters the race ninth in the driver point standings. He was also fastest in the practice session earlier in the day.
Brown’s Pinnacle Racing Group teammate Tristan McKee will start alongside him on the front row in second.
Max Reaves took the points lead following IRP and will start third. Reaves is the defending winner at Flat Rock.
Reigning champion Isaac Kitzmiller starts fourth followed by Quinn Davis in fifth.
Matt Kemp, Jackson McLerran, Blaine Donahue, Jeffrey MacZink, and Esteban “Toro” Rodriguez complete the top-10 starters in sixth through 10th, respectively.
Rita Goulet and Michael Maples were the two drivers who did not post a lap in qualifying, so they will start 20th and 21st. Goulet was P18 in practice. Maples was 16th, but suffered a blown engine on his self-owned No. 99 Chevrolet.
The organization confirmed that Maples will not compete in the race and will therefore finish last (21st). He entered the race 10th in points.
With 21 entrants, zero drivers failed to qualify for the last East standalone event at the 0.25-mile Michigan short track. Brad Smith withdrew from the race to focus on his main-series program as he is ninth in those points.
