After hours of rain and lightning in the vicinity of Nashville Superspeedway, INDYCAR has postponed the running of the Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix until Monday (July 20) at 3 p.m. ET.
The 12th race of the 2026 NTT IndyCar Series season was set to air at 5:30 p.m. ET but was delayed as the FIFA World Cup final went into extra time. Weather arrived shortly thereafter and track drying efforts ensued for more than 90 minutes before heavy rain returned to the speedway and forced the postponement.
With an eye on forecasted heat for Sunday, IndyCar also announced Sunday evening that the race would be shortened from 300 laps to 225 laps, the same distance it ran in 2025.
Kyle Kirkwood will start on pole for Sunday’s race alongside Josef Newgarden.
The race will air on FOX at 3 p.m. ET.

Sunday Indycar events usually run in early afternoon. That would have beat the rain. Theey got screwed by FOX commitment to socceer.
