Kaulig Racing announced Saturday (July 18) that Elliott Sadler will drive the No. 25 “free agent” RAM truck at Richmond Raceway on Friday, Aug. 14.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel at Richmond Raceway in front of the great Virginia fans,” Sadler stated in a press release. “It’ll be fun getting back into a truck — I just hope I still remember how to drive it. Richmond has always been special to me, and I’m thankful to Ram and Kaulig Racing for giving me this opportunity to compete again. I really cherished my career in NASCAR and how special the fans have been to me.”
The 51-year-old last raced in NASCAR back in 2019, participating in two O’Reilly Series races in Kaulig Racing’s No. 10 car. Sadler also has a long relationship with Kaulig Racing CEO Chris Rice, who was his crew chief when Sadler won the track championship at South Boston Speedway in 1995.
Sadler’s last truck race came back in 2011, a seventh-place finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway while driving the No. 24 truck for Joe Denette Motorsports.
Sadler has one career win in the Truck Series, a victory at Pocono Raceway coming in 2010 while driving for Kevin Harvick Inc. in the No. 2 truck. He has two previous Truck starts at Richmond with a best finish of 29th, but the most recent start was 25 years ago.
Sadler’s other NASCAR accomplishments include three Cup Series wins, 13 O’Reilly Series wins and four runner-up points finishes in the NOAPS series.
The No. 25 Kaulig truck currently sits 24th in the owner points standings.
