Denny Hamlin was the last driver on track for NASCAR Cup Series qualifying at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday, June 6, and put together a dramatic effort to rip the pole away from Michigan native Carson Hocevar.
It’s Hamlin’s second pole of the season and the 50th of his career as he comes off a win last weekend at Nashville Superspeedway.
Hocevar will share the front row with Hamlin as Tyler Reddick, Ty Gibbs, and Chase Briscoe complete the top five.
Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, Christopher Bell, William Byron, and Erik Jones will start in the sixth to 10th positions, respectively.
Following team owner Richard Childress announcing that Austin Hill will pilot the No. 33 Chevrolet for the remainder of the 2026 season, Hill qualified 28th.
With 37 entrants, all will compete in the 200-lap race. JJ Yeley is the lone open driver and he qualified 36th.
