Denny Hamlin was the last driver on track for Cup Series qualifying at Michigan International Speedway, and put together a dramatic effort to rip the pole away from Michigan native Carson Hocevar.
It’s Hamlin’s second pole of the season and the 50th of his career as he comes off a win last weekend at Nashville.
Hocevar will share the front row with Hamlin as Tyler Reddick, Ty Gibbs, and Chase Briscoe complete the top five.
Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, Christopher Bell, William Byron, and Erik Jones will start in the sixth to 10th positions, respectively.
