This week on Bringing the Heat With Trey Lyle, William Sawalich and Dalton Hopkins discuss world travel, including a recent trip to Africa. While Sawalich shared that he enjoys traveling, his trip to Africa included giving hearing aids to those who need them.
Sawalich described the experience of seeing kids experience hearing for the first time. He also explained why it’s important to him to go on these mission trips.
After the interview, Caleb Barnes joins Lyle to review the multitude of midweek headlines that dropped, beginning with rumors that NASCAR is exploring a return to the Chicago street course in the future. Barnes and Lyle speculate on what that may mean for the 2026 return to Chicagoland Speedway, and what will happen with that track in the future.
Also announced, Katherine Legge will be attempting to complete the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 in the same day. Barnes feels the biggest hurdle will be the lack of practice (and hopes that the weather cooperates), but Barnes and Lyle believe there is a shot that Legge completes more laps than Kyle Larson did in either of his Double attempts.
The two also react to news that Mike Joy will wave the green flag in Sunday’s All-Star Race, discussing what that may mean for the future of the legendary broadcaster. Lyle also goes over the All-Star format, and Barnes shares what he thinks this means for the future of Dover Motor Speedway.
The soundbite of the week comes from the post-race presser in Watkins Glen, where Shane van Gisbergen explained what was happening on his team radio as he reeled in the leaders en route to his latest road course victory. Barnes and Lyle argue whether or not it’s time to go ahead and crown SVG as the greatest road racer in NASCAR.
