This week’s episode of Bringing the Heat With Trey Lyle features a special doubleheader of sorts, with interviews from both Austin Dillon and Tyler Ankrum. First off, Dillon discusses with Bryan Nolen his current roles within and outside of RCR, from ownership of the Carolina Cowboys to how much longer he plans on racing for his team.
Next, Ankrum joins Michael Massie ahead of his first start in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series at Talladega at the end of April. Ankrum shares some perspective about the sorts of things a driver has to think about when making the switch from a truck to an O’Reilly car.
After the back-to-back interviews, Dalton Hopkins and Lyle focus on this week’s biggest topics. That includes a contract extension for Ryan Blaney. Lyle and Hopkins debate whether or not this makes Blaney the center point of Penske’s NASCAR program.
The two also take a look at new ways NASCAR will try to enforce track limits at Watkins Glen this weekend. While it may make for some more chaos, Hopkins is not a fan of this attempt from the series to prevent drivers from running wide.
The soundbite of the week comes from Hopkins’ interview with Ryan Preece on pit road after the race at Texas Motor Speedway. Preece explained what happened with his run-in with Ty Gibbs. Lyle and Hopkins review Preece’s post-race comments and whether or not Preece deserved a fine and point penalty.
