The start time for the Miami Grand Prix has been moved up to 1 p.m. ET due to the threat of inclement weather, the FIA announced May 2.
“Following discussions between FIA, FOM and the Miami promoter, the decision has been taken to move the start of Sunday’s Miami Grand Prix to 13:00 local time in Miami due to the weather forecast that is expected to bring heavier rainstorms later in the afternoon close to the original planned race start time,” the FIA said in a statement.
“This decision has been taken to ensure the least amount of disruption to the race, and to ensure the maximum possible window to complete the Grand Prix in the best conditions and to prioritise the safety of drivers, fans, teams and staff.”
Kimi Antonelli will start from the pole Sunday alongside Max Verstappen.
In Saturday’s sprint race, Lando Norris bested Oscar Piastri.
Sunday’s race airs at 1 p.m. ET on Apple TV.

What a logical thing to do. Moved all forward, to increase the odds of completing the F2 and F1 races, based upon the data available.
Many other series would just stay the course, and hope to get lucky. Part of this is F1’s unique position to dictate terms, but I’d argue part of why F1 is perched atop the motorsports world are decisions like this one.
