The two also talk racing, as Thomas has grown into an avid race fan. He loves connecting with other race fans through My Place, providing a place for them to stay and enjoy their favorite sport with the help of a good night’s sleep.
Following the interview, Michael Massie follows up his Happy Hour appearance to review some of this week’s hottest topics. Massie and Lyle share their thoughts on Steve O’Donnell taking over as the CEO of NASCAR, highlighting the biggest challenges O’Donnell may face in this new role.
This week, Richard Childress Racing announced another change in leadership with the No. 8 crew, as Andy Street will take over crew chief duties for Kyle Busch. Massie is unsure the adjustment will make a major impact on performance for that car while Lyle believes problems may run deeper for the team as a whole.
Finally, the CW has a new partnership with ESPN announced this week. Lyle and Massie break down the details of what the deal means for being able to keep up with the NASCAR O’Reilly Parts Series via streaming platforms.
The soundbite of the week comes from Busch, who was discussed earlier. The No. 8 team earned its first top-10 finish of the season at Talladega, a promising performance that still didn’t prevent a personnel shift internally. Massie and Lyle focus on Busch’s comments regarding the changes to the race breakup and how it did or did not impact the on-track product.
