Corey Day Earns First Career Pole at Rockingham

Corey Day has earned the pole for April 4’s NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Rockingham Speedway.

Day will lead the field to the green flag for the first time in his career.

Day’s lap of 148.963 mph was six-hundredths of a second faster than second place Jesse Love, who will occupy the outside of the front row. Love won last year’s running of the race before a post-race disqualification.

Parker Retzlaff and Justin Allgaier will share row two for the drop of the green flag, starting third and fourth, and Carson Kvapil will round out the top five starters.

Taylor Gray, Sam Mayer, Brandon Jones, Sheldon Creed and Brent Crews conclude the remaining top 10 starters for tomorrow’s 250 lap race.

With 38 cars entered in the event, there will be no drivers missing the race. All but one car took to the track in today’s qualifying session, with Garrett Smithley being the lone exception.
