Sam Mayer Suspended for Phoenix; Ryan Sieg to Drive No. 41

Following his intentional wreck of Jeb Burton on the cooldown lap at Martinsville Speedway last weekend, Sam Mayer has been suspended for the NASCAR Xfinity Series’ season finale at Phoenix Raceway on Saturday (Nov. 1).

The suspension was made official on Tuesday (Oct. 28) in NASCAR’s weekly penalty report, which cited Mayer for an infraction of section 4.4.B. in the NASCAR rulebook, regarding the NASCAR member code of conduct.

In a statement, Haas Factory Team stated that it would not appeal NASCAR’s ruling.

Taking Mayer’s place behind the wheel of the No. 41 car is Ryan Sieg, a Xfinity Series veteran with 399 career starts under his belt. Sunday will mark Sieg’s first Xfinity start with a team other than family-owned RSS Racing since 2013.

  1. This driver came in to the series with so much talent but it appears Superman tripped on his cape or his big ego
