Ben Rhodes’ No. 99 Team Penalized After Watkins Glen Incident

Ben Rhodes’ truck chief in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series has been suspended one race, NASCAR announced Aug. 13 in its weekly penalty report.

Marshall Hill of Rhodes’ No. 99 ThorSport Racing team, will miss this weekend’s race at Richmond Raceway following a detached wheel during last week’s Truck race at Watkins Glen International.

The penalty violates Sections 10.5.2.5.G of the NASCAR rulebook, which is the loss or separation of an improperly installed rear axle from the vehicle.

Rhodes’ crash left him 26th at the conclusion of last week’s race and has the two-time champion 11 points outside the playoffs entering the regular-season finale at Richmond.

Rhodes has four top fivesand six top 10s this season with a best finish of fourth at Michigan International Speedway and Lime Rock Park.
