For the second time this season, Nelson Motorsports will field two cars in a zMAX CARS Tour race.
The team announced July 1 that Trevor Ward will pilot the No. 12 for the team in this week’s CARS race at Caraway Speedway.
Ward currently leads the track championship standings at South Boston Speedway driving his own No. 77.
Through 10 races at South Boston, Ward has racked up four wins and nine top fives, leading Peyton Sellers in the standings by a narrow margin.
Ward becomes the second driver to pilot the No. 12 for Nelson this season, joining Jonathan Shafer, who ran the car at North Wilkesboro Speedway.
Ward will race alongside teammate Carson Loftin, the driver of Nelson’s full-time flagship No. 22. Through eight CARS starts in 2025, Loftin sits 11th in points with two top-five finishes and three top 10s.
CARS action at Caraway is set to take place on Wednesday, July 2, with racing action scheduled for approximately 9 p.m. ET.
