Layne Riggs Collects 1st 2025 Truck Series Win at Pocono

Layne Riggs took control late to score his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win of 2025 at Pocono Raceway on Friday (June 20).

Riggs took advantage of a flat tire by Corey Heim and a restart penalty for Carson Hocevar to put both Front Row Motorsports trucks into the 2025 Truck Series playoffs.

“That’s just a testament to the team” Riggs said post-race. “That thing was bad fast, especially that last run right there.

“I really hate the 11 (Heim) fell out and I’m not sure what the (Hocevar) was doing on the restart there, but made sure to take advantage of it there. Not really sure why we slowed to 30 mph coming to the restart zone there.

“This is not one I had circled. Last year we wrecked in practice, wrecked in qualifying and rode around in dead last all day. Today, we were the best.”

Tanner Gray took his TRICON Garage Toyota to a second-place finish with NIECE Motorsports driver Kaden Honeycutt finishing in third.

Brandon Jones and Daniel Hemric rounded out the top five.

Honeycutt took the lead on the initial start before Heim emerged up front in the tunnel turn.

Heim maintained about a two-second lead for the majority of stage one before pitting with three laps remaining in the stage.

A caution fell shortly after Cody Dennison blew a tire in turn 1 and made heavy contact with the outside wall. The incident ended the opening stage with Riggs collecting the stage victory.

On the following restart, Stewart Friesen emerged up front with Heim in second. Heim made quick work of Friesen in turn 3 to retake the lead with Hocevar close behind. Heim led the rest of the way in stage two to claim his 12th stage win in 2025 over Hocevar and Riggs.

Heim remained up front after the stage three restart, with Riggs and Hocevar taking the second and third positions.

A caution flew shortly after the restart for a multi-truck incident in turn 2. Grant Enfinger, who was three wide, made contact with Ben Rhodes and slid into the outside wall, collecting Tyler Ankrum and numerous trucks behind.

A chaotic restart followed after Jake Garcia slowed in front of his teammate Ty Majeski, causing Majeski to make contact with the rear bumper of Garcia.

Garcia spun head-on into the inside wall, sustaining heavy front end damage.

Under the caution, race leader Heim suffered a tire failure, which opened a spot on the front row for Hocevar alongside Riggs. Hocevar launched first on the ensuing restart, but received a violation as he was not the control car per the series rule book

This handed the lead to Riggs, who led the remainder of the way to collect his third career Truck Series victory.
